The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, is a pioneering institution of veterinary and animal sciences in Asia. Founded in 1882 as the Punjab Veterinary College, UVAS has grown into a premier research and teaching university, serving as a key player in livestock development, animal welfare, and food safety in Pakistan. History of UVAS Early Beginnings (1882) Established under British colonial rule, the institution was initially Punjab Veterinary College, and its objective was to enhance animal health and productivity of livestock. 🇵🇰 Post-Independence Era Following Pakistan’s independence in 1947, the college kept growing, with great contributions towards the veterinary profession, particularly rural livestock management and disease control.
