Ziauddin University (ZU) is a private, HEC-recognized degree-awarding institute in Karachi, established in honor of Sir Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad, a celebrated academician, philosopher, and mathematician. ZU’s vision is to provide quality, values-based education in the health sciences, liberal arts, and technology, and more.

History & Evolution

Early Roots: The Ziauddin Group started with a small maternity home in Nazimabad, set up by Dr. Aijaz Fatima and Dr. Tajammul Hussain—daughter and son‑in‑law of Sir Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad—planning to disseminate quality healthcare and education.

University Charter: Initially providing nursing programs since 1986, the institution diversified into various health‑related fields. On 13 December 2005, it was granted its charter under “The Ziauddin University (Amendment) Act 2003,” and it became Ziauddin University officially.

Campuses & Facilities

ZU has evolved into a multi‑campus network with state‑of‑the‑art facilities:

• Karachi Campuses:
  • Clifton: Main urban campus accommodating Faculties of Health Sciences and Allied Health
  • Boat Basin: Liberal arts, media, and education programs only
  • North Nazimabad: Health TV studios and simulation centers
• Sukkur Campus: Established in 2022 to expand Allied Health and Public Health education throughout Sindh
• Education City (Malir): New blocks of Engineering and Pharmacy, providing a peaceful campus environment

All campuses have smart classrooms, state-of-the-art labs, libraries, auditoria, sports grounds, Wi‑Fi, and transport services.
