Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) is a public institution founded in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, Pakistan. In 2014, it was established by the Punjab Assembly Act and named after the renowned 19th-century Sufi poet Khwaja Ghulam Fareed. Historical Background The initiative to establish KFUEIT was launched by then Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, with the goal of fulfilling the educational needs of Southern Punjab, Northern Sindh, and Eastern Balochistan. Prior to the creation of KFUEIT, students from these regions had to travel long distances to access higher education in engineering and technology. KFUEIT commenced its academic journey on September 1, 2014, initially operating in four rented classrooms at the Government College of Technology, Shehbazpur Road. The university’s first intake consisted of 200 students across four programs: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology. In 2015, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob was appointed as the first Vice Chancellor. Under his leadership, KFUEIT experienced rapid growth and expansion. The university established its infrastructure and relocated to its own campus on Abu Dhabi Road, Rahim Yar Khan.
