Historical Background
Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) in Bahawalpur, Punjab, is one of Pakistan’s premier public sector universities specifically focused on educating women.
Established in 1944 by Nawab Sir Sadiq Khan Abbasi V as Sadiq Women College, the college was an innovative move to empower women of southern Punjab.
In 1957, the college was raised to the level of a degree-awarding institution, bringing new avenues for academic opportunities among female students.
In 2012, it gained full university status by a resolution adopted by the Punjab Assembly, which was a landmark moment in its academic development.
