The Institute of Business Administration, Karachi is not only Pakistan’s oldest business school, but also one of the earliest outside North America to teach modern business education. IBA has developed since its establishment in 1955 into a comprehensive public-sector degree-awarding university, with a tradition of excellence, innovation, and leadership development.
History & Legacy
Named the Institute of Public and Business Administration (IPBA), IBA started out with the patronage of the Government of Sindh and the academic support of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Southern California. These early collaborations formed IBA’s original curriculum and standards, positioning it as the region’s first business school.
Over time, IPBA developed into the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), growing from business disciplines into social sciences, computer science, and beyond—while maintaining its original mission of building ethical and competent leaders.
