History and Background

• Founded by charter granted on August 30, 2001, by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
• Name “Qurtuba” is the Arabic form of “Córdoba,” reflecting a desire to replicate that city’s rich academic tradition.
• Originated from Qurtuba Education System (1991) and Qurtuba College in Peshawar, expanding to Dera Ismail Khan before the university’s charter in 2001.
• Accredited by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan; holds ‘W3’ category ranking.
