The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) is one of the premier institutions in Pakistan for agricultural and related science education. It has a glorious past and notable contributions to Pakistan’s agricultural growth.
Establishment
UAF was founded in 1906 as the Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute, Lyallpur (now Faisalabad) during the British colonial era. It was the first teaching and research institution for agriculture in the undivided Punjab region.
Post-Independence Development
Since the independence of Pakistan in 1947, the institution has been at the forefront in promoting agricultural education and research. In order to meet the increasing demands of the country’s agriculture sector, it was upgraded to a university in 1961 and was renamed the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
