Historical Background

  • UAP’s history dates back to 1907 when it started as a research station in British India.
  • In 1924 it became the Imperial College of Agriculture, subsequently affiliated with the University of London.
  • In 1957 it was elevated to West Pakistan Agricultural University.
  • Renamed University of Agriculture, Peshawar in 1981.

Research and Outreach
Since its establishment, UAP has performed both fundamental and applied agricultural research. Findings are shared with farmers and the community through outreach, improving food security and promoting sustainable practices.

Recent Developments

  • IBMS, started in 1998 with management sciences, now offers computer science and IT programs.
